For a repair, describe what is happening and when it began. For an installation, describe what you want the space or equipment to do. If you have several items, group them by room or priority.

Write down the town, address, and rooms or equipment involved.
Describe the issue or the result you want in plain language.
Find fixture, appliance, charger, or equipment model information.
Take a room photo and equipment exterior photo only if safe; leave electrical covers in place.
Note site access, parking, pets, tenants, and other people who need to be involved.
Identify the preferred timing and any dates tied to other trades.
Ask what is included in the estimate, including visits, materials, permits, and making good surfaces.
Confirm the appointment, payment terms, and agreed scope before work begins.
