Start with the existing fan
Tell us whether the fan is silent, noisy, intermittent or simply no longer the equipment you want. Include the model if known and a photo from floor level. A problem can involve the fan, its control or its power supply. We establish the electrical issue before assuming that a new fan will solve it.
Replacement and new installation have different needs
A replacement needs a review of the existing opening, mounting, electrical supply and connection to the duct. A new location introduces a wiring route and a ventilation route. Share whether the ceiling is finished and whether there is access above it. Duct installation, exterior penetrations and ceiling repairs are specifically assigned in the project scope rather than assumed to be included.
Select equipment and controls together
Send the proposed model, including any light, timer, humidity control or heater feature. These features can change wiring and circuit requirements. Airflow, sound rating and duct requirements also belong in the product discussion. A unit that fits the visible grille opening may still differ behind the ceiling. Confirm the selection before ordering equipment for a tight space.

Preparing for the estimate
The existing wiring, switch arrangement, equipment features, ceiling access and coordination with other trades affect cost. During a bathroom renovation, involve the remodeler before finishes are completed. In a condo, rental or business restroom, include the property contact and any restrictions on shared ventilation or building alterations. We can then explain the electrical work and what needs separate coordination.

Questions about bathroom exhaust fans
Do you handle the ductwork too?
The electrical scope and any ductwork are confirmed separately for the project. Share the existing arrangement and whether another contractor is providing ventilation work so there is no gap between responsibilities.
Can the fan and light have separate controls?
We review the chosen unit, available wiring and switch location. Separate operation may require control or wiring changes; it is not determined by replacing the wall switch alone.
Should I buy a replacement before calling?
Send the model you are considering first. Dimensions, features, access and the existing installation help establish whether it is a practical replacement.
