About this service

Tell us about your project

Compare wired, PoE and wireless cameras

Some cameras need a separate low-voltage power supply and data path. Compatible PoE cameras receive power and data through Ethernet. Wireless cameras still need a power arrangement unless they rely on batteries or another designed source. Choosing the camera system before routing cable helps avoid installing the wrong infrastructure.

A CLEAR PLAN FROM THE FIRST CONVERSATION

What the work involves

  1. Define the equipment and connections

Review the selected devices, controls, power requirements and communication connections. Confirm the functions needed before choosing wiring.

  2. Plan routes and device locations

Lay out cable routes, terminations and mounting locations around access and equipment instructions. Identify network, mechanical or other trade dependencies.

  3. Confirm scope, permits and scheduling

We identify permit and inspection requirements for the property jurisdiction. Utility coordination is included when the work affects its equipment or supply. You receive the proposed scope before approving the work.

  4. Complete the work and check operation

We complete the agreed electrical work, test the relevant installation and explain operation, findings and any follow-up. Required official inspections are a separate part of completion.

Plan locations for useful coverage

Share the entrances, driveway, work areas or equipment you want to observe. Mounting height, view, lighting and obstacles affect the result; more cameras do not automatically produce better images. Outdoor equipment and connections must suit their exposure. We coordinate routes and mounting with the selected equipment and the property layout.

Include the recorder and network

The plan identifies recorder or network equipment location, power, data connections and how the owner will access recordings. Storage duration and image quality depend on the system configuration. Customer accounts, access permissions and any cloud subscription should be understood before installation. We do not imply continuous monitoring or a guaranteed security outcome from camera wiring.

When an existing camera stops working

Power, cable condition, network communication, camera hardware and application settings can cause different symptoms. Tell us which camera is affected and whether the issue began after weather, renovation or equipment changes. The agreed diagnosis separates the installed infrastructure from vendor software support and unrelated network services.

Service area, permits and scheduling

Inside city limits, the City of Myrtle Beach Construction Services Department handles electrical trade permits and inspections. In unincorporated Horry County, the relevant authority is Horry County Code Enforcement. The property jurisdiction and proposed scope determine the requirements; a Myrtle Beach mailing address alone does not establish the responsible department.

Santee Cooper serves Myrtle Beach customers. Utility coordination is needed only when the proposed work affects the utility supply or requires its involvement. Confirm the provider on your bill; service territories vary across the wider area.

Whether the property is in Carolina Forest, around The Market Common or along Kings Highway, share access and occupancy requirements early. Guardian serves all of Horry County and all of Georgetown County. We identify who is responsible for permits, power interruptions, other-trade work and completion checks in the proposed scope.

Project quotes are free; diagnostic and service-call charges are explained before booking. Guardian provides 24/7 electrical service; call to confirm current availability and scheduling. We offer a two-year installation warranty on everything we install; ask how it applies to the proposed work. View our license and credentials.

Your questions, answered

Can a wireless camera still need wiring?

Yes. Many wireless cameras communicate wirelessly but require a local power source. The exact model determines its requirements.

Can you reuse existing camera cables?

That depends on cable type, condition, route and the replacement system. Existing connectors do not establish compatibility.

Can you reuse the old cables when I replace this system?

Existing cable can only be reused when its type, condition and route suit the new equipment. Connector shape alone is not a compatibility check. Send the model information, cable details and desired function so the wiring can be assessed.

Will new wiring fix a device that keeps going offline?

New wiring does not automatically resolve network, configuration or equipment faults. We distinguish the electrical and cabling work from router, software and account issues. The proposed scope identifies testing and configuration responsibilities.

Based in Myrtle Beach, Guardian serves all of Horry County and all of Georgetown County. See our service area and verify our South Carolina license.

Camera coverage should be planned with its data-cabling route. At controlled entrances, coordinate it with access-control wiring so the devices and responsibilities are clear.
