Ceiling fan installation & replacement

A ceiling fan replacement, a fan added where a light hangs now, and a fan in a room with no ceiling wiring are different jobs. Guardian plans the installation around your selected fan, the existing support and how you want to control it.

Replacing a fan or adding a new location?

For a replacement, send the existing fan and new model information. We review the mounting arrangement, wiring and controls rather than assuming that everything can be reused. Changing a light fixture to a fan also requires a suitable fan support arrangement. A new location may need a wiring route, a ceiling opening and a switch or control plan.

Choose the fan for the room

Ceiling height, slope and nearby obstructions affect placement and the mounting components. For a porch or other exposed location, share the product rating and a photo of the surroundings. We check the selected fan’s installation instructions; the fan’s appearance alone does not establish whether it suits the space.

Make the controls part of the estimate

Explain whether you want a wall control, remote, separate light control or smart features. Fan motors, light kits and controls have compatibility requirements. Include the model numbers before buying accessories. If the existing fan has stopped working, describe whether the motor, light or both are affected so we can discuss troubleshooting before replacement.

What changes the installation scope?

The number of fans, ceiling height, access equipment, existing support, new wiring and control changes all affect the estimate. Attic access and finished surfaces matter when a new route is needed. For a rental, condo or commercial room, identify who approves the work and any access window. We confirm preparation and scope before scheduling.

Who supplies the fan, and what happens to the old one?

Confirm who is supplying the fan, mounting accessories and controls. For a fan you purchase, keep the instructions and all supplied parts together; send the model and accessories before the appointment. Do not assume a separately sold downrod, slope adapter or control is included in the fan box or installation price.

The written estimate should clarify assembly, removal of the existing fixture or fan, and whether disposal is included. It should also identify any support or wiring changes and who handles ceiling patching or painting if an opening is needed. Mention furniture, a stairwell or other obstructions beneath the location so access can be planned before work begins.

Project quotes are free; diagnostic/service-call charges are explained before booking.

Questions about ceiling fans

Can I buy the fan myself?

Yes. Send the product link before the visit, along with any downrod, remote or wall-control accessories. Reviewing the complete selection helps avoid an installation delayed by missing or incompatible parts.

Can you replace an existing light with a ceiling fan?

We can assess that change. The ceiling support, wiring, mounting position and chosen fan must be suitable; an existing light outlet is not proof that the location is ready for a fan.

Can several fans be included in one request?

Send the quantity, models and rooms together. Flag differences such as a high ceiling or outdoor location so each installation is included in the agreed scope.
