Begin with the exact hot tub model
Send the manufacturer installation instructions, model number and intended location. Different models have different connection requirements. A nearby outdoor outlet, an existing spa connection or an unused breaker position does not by itself establish that the installation will suit the equipment.
If you are replacing a hot tub, include the old and new model information where available. Existing wiring and protective equipment need to be reviewed for the replacement, even when the new tub sits in the same spot. Let us know whether the old equipment is still connected and who is arranging removal.
Plan the route before delivery and landscaping
Distance from the electrical equipment, available routing, concrete, decking and landscaped areas all affect the work. Show the proposed location and surrounding access. Discuss the circuit, disconnect, required protection and bonding as a complete electrical installation rather than buying individual parts from a generic checklist.
Coordinate with the delivery team and any builder or landscape contractor. New paving or a deck can make an earlier route difficult to reach. Confirm which work should occur before delivery and what needs the equipment in place; the right sequence depends on the product and site.
For a hot tub that has stopped working
Describe what happens and whether power loss affects anything else. Note recent delivery, service, water exposure or changes without opening electrical compartments. A tripping device or damaged connection needs diagnosis; do not keep resetting it or use a spa with a known electrical concern.
Guardian can review the electrical supply and connection. Internal equipment or water-system faults may require coordination with the spa service provider. Cost and timing depend on the model, route, existing installation, access and any related service work; a new supply and a repair to an existing connection are different jobs.
Guardian serves homes and businesses in Myrtle Beach, Carolina Forest, all of Horry County and all of Georgetown County. We travel to your property; share the address and scope so we can discuss the next step. See our service areas.
Questions about hot tub wiring
Should I contact the electrician before ordering the hot tub?
You can send a candidate model and proposed location before purchase. Reviewing its electrical requirements early helps clarify the work and sequencing before a delivery date is fixed.
Can you use the connection from my previous spa?
It needs to be checked against the new model and its installation instructions, along with the condition of the existing equipment. Same location does not guarantee the same electrical scope.
Do you build the pad or repair the hot tub itself?
This page covers electrical work. Identify who is handling the base, delivery and spa equipment service so those responsibilities can be coordinated with the electrical installation.
