About this service

Tell us about your project

Different symptoms can point to different causes

A dead room can involve a branch circuit, connection or protective device. Several affected areas can involve broader distribution or service issues. Lights that become unusually bright and dim may indicate a supply or neutral problem, but that symptom alone does not identify where the fault is. Appliance behavior, timing and affected areas help guide the investigation.

A CLEAR PLAN FROM THE FIRST CONVERSATION

What the work involves

  1. Trace the reported symptom

Describe what stops working, which rooms or devices are affected and when the issue occurs. We check the affected circuit within the agreed diagnostic scope.

  2. Explain the cause and repair options

Distinguish a device problem from wiring, circuit loading or supply issues before recommending the correction.

  3. Confirm scope, permits and scheduling

We identify permit and inspection requirements for the property jurisdiction. Utility coordination is included when the work affects its equipment or supply. You receive the proposed scope before approving the work.

  4. Complete the work and check operation

We complete the agreed electrical work, test the relevant installation and explain operation, findings and any follow-up. Required official inspections are a separate part of completion.

What to do while waiting for help

Keep away from damaged equipment, exposed wiring and downed lines. If there is smoke, fire, arcing or a suspected immediate hazard, move clear and call emergency services. Do not open electrical panels or repeatedly reset a device that trips. Contact the utility for a suspected supply problem; utility-owned equipment and customer-side repairs have different responsibilities.

Information that helps the diagnosis

Tell us which rooms and appliances are affected, whether neighbors also lost power and whether the problem began after a storm or equipment change. Note existing observations without deliberately recreating the fault. Safe photographs of closed equipment or visible damage may help, but readings and on-site checks are needed for a diagnosis.

Find the fault before proposing the repair

The electrical investigation can distinguish supply, panel, circuit, connection and equipment concerns. A larger breaker, new panel or additional circuit is not automatically the answer. If the fault crosses the utility boundary, we coordinate the customer-side work with the utility’s process. Diagnostic or service-call charges are explained before booking; the findings establish the repair scope.

Service area, permits and scheduling

Inside city limits, the City of Myrtle Beach Construction Services Department handles electrical trade permits and inspections. In unincorporated Horry County, the relevant authority is Horry County Code Enforcement. The property jurisdiction and proposed scope determine the requirements; a Myrtle Beach mailing address alone does not establish the responsible department.

Santee Cooper serves Myrtle Beach customers. Utility coordination is needed only when the proposed work affects the utility supply or requires its involvement. Confirm the provider on your bill; service territories vary across the wider area.

Whether the property is in Carolina Forest, around The Market Common or along Kings Highway, share access and occupancy requirements early. Guardian serves all of Horry County and all of Georgetown County. We identify who is responsible for permits, power interruptions, other-trade work and completion checks in the proposed scope.

Project quotes are free; diagnostic and service-call charges are explained before booking. Guardian provides 24/7 electrical service; call to confirm current availability and scheduling. We offer a two-year installation warranty on everything we install; ask how it applies to the proposed work. View our license and credentials.

Your questions, answered

Does flickering mean I need a new panel?

Not necessarily. The cause can involve a fixture, circuit, connection or supply issue. Diagnosis determines the appropriate work.

Do you guarantee immediate emergency arrival?

Service calls are answered 24/7. Call Guardian to confirm current availability and describe the concern. For immediate danger, contact emergency services.

Why does my breaker keep tripping, and can I put in a bigger breaker?

A larger breaker is not a safe shortcut for diagnosing repeated trips. Overcurrent protection, a breaker’s response to excessive current, helps protect the wiring from overheating. The affected circuit, connected equipment and protective device need assessment.

Why are some rooms without power while other lights get unusually bright?

Partial power loss with unusual brightening can indicate a serious supply or connection fault. A loose neutral, a fault involving a normal return conductor, is one possible cause of abnormal voltage. Keep away from damaged equipment and contact the serving utility and an electrician as appropriate.

Based in Myrtle Beach, Guardian serves all of Horry County and all of Georgetown County. See our service area and verify our South Carolina license.

If the issue is limited to certain outlets, review how GFCI protection can affect connected locations. A recurring trip may need circuit-breaker and circuit diagnosis; neither symptom identifies the cause by itself.
