Small electrical repairs and installations

Tell us about your project

Small jobs still need the right scope

Guardian handles electrical repairs and improvements for homes and businesses. Typical requests include replacing a switch, evaluating a dead receptacle, installing a light or fan, and working through electrical items from an inspection report. A small visible part can be connected to a larger wiring problem, so we distinguish straightforward replacement from finding the cause of a fault.

A CLEAR PLAN FROM THE FIRST CONVERSATION

What the work involves

  1. Trace the reported symptom

Describe what stops working, which rooms or devices are affected and when the issue occurs. We check the affected circuit within the agreed diagnostic scope.

  2. Explain the cause and repair options

Distinguish a device problem from wiring, circuit loading or supply issues before recommending the correction.

  3. Confirm scope, permits and scheduling

We identify permit and inspection requirements for the property jurisdiction. Utility coordination is included when the work affects its equipment or supply. You receive the proposed scope before approving the work.

  4. Complete the work and check operation

We complete the agreed electrical work, test the relevant installation and explain operation, findings and any follow-up. Required official inspections are a separate part of completion.

Make your list by room

For each item, describe what happens, when it started and what you want changed. Photograph the fixture or equipment safely without opening electrical covers. If you are supplying a light, fan or smart device, send the model first so mounting support, compatibility and access can be considered. Grouping related work lets us discuss the visit as a whole.

Replacement, installation and troubleshooting

  • Replace an existing item: review its condition and the suitability of the existing wiring and support.
  • Add something new: establish a supply, route, controls and any finish work.
  • Investigate a problem: identify the cause before agreeing on a repair. A failed device may not be the only issue.

Understand the quote and visit charge

Project quotes are free. Diagnostic or service-call charges are explained before booking. A short repair list is not automatically a free diagnostic visit, and labor depends on access and what is found. We explain the agreed work and discuss additional findings before they become an expanded job.

Start with your town, list and photos. For active smoke, fire or a suspected electrical emergency, keep clear and contact emergency services. Do not wait for a website form response.

Service area, permits and scheduling

Inside city limits, the City of Myrtle Beach Construction Services Department handles electrical trade permits and inspections. In unincorporated Horry County, the relevant authority is Horry County Code Enforcement. The property jurisdiction and proposed scope determine the requirements; a Myrtle Beach mailing address alone does not establish the responsible department.

Santee Cooper serves Myrtle Beach customers. Utility coordination is needed only when the proposed work affects the utility supply or requires its involvement. Confirm the provider on your bill; service territories vary across the wider area.

Whether the property is in Carolina Forest, around The Market Common or along Kings Highway, share access and occupancy requirements early. Guardian serves all of Horry County and all of Georgetown County. We identify who is responsible for permits, power interruptions, other-trade work and completion checks in the proposed scope.

Project quotes are free; diagnostic and service-call charges are explained before booking. Guardian provides 24/7 electrical service; call to confirm current availability and scheduling. We offer a two-year installation warranty on everything we install; ask how it applies to the proposed work. View our license and credentials.

Your questions, answered

Do I need a large project to call Guardian?

No. Share the electrical task or repair list and we will discuss the right next step and current scheduling.

Can I buy my own fixture?

Send the model before purchase or installation. Compatibility, mounting support and access need review; ownership of the fixture does not settle the installation scope.

Why does my breaker keep tripping, and can I put in a bigger breaker?

A larger breaker is not a safe shortcut for diagnosing repeated trips. Overcurrent protection, a breaker’s response to excessive current, helps protect the wiring from overheating. The affected circuit, connected equipment and protective device need assessment.

Why are some rooms without power while other lights get unusually bright?

Partial power loss with unusual brightening can indicate a serious supply or connection fault. A loose neutral, a fault involving a normal return conductor, is one possible cause of abnormal voltage. Keep away from damaged equipment and contact the serving utility and an electrician as appropriate.

Based in Myrtle Beach, Guardian serves all of Horry County and all of Georgetown County. See our service area and verify our South Carolina license.

Build your repair list around the actual devices: outlets and receptacles, switches and dimmers, or ceiling fans. Note whether each item is a replacement, new location or existing fault.
