What the Work Involves

Match the circuit to the equipment

Review the model number, electrical rating and existing supply before choosing wiring or protection.

Plan the connection and cable route

Confirm the mounting or outlet location, access, disconnects and any work through finished areas.

Confirm scope, permits and scheduling

We identify permit and inspection requirements for the property jurisdiction. Utility coordination is included when the work affects its equipment or supply. You receive the proposed scope before approving the work.

Complete the work and check operation

We complete the agreed electrical work, test the relevant installation and explain operation, findings and any follow-up. Required official inspections are a separate part of completion.

Choose the appliance before finalizing the circuit

A freestanding range, separate wall oven and countertop cooktop do not necessarily use the same connection. Share each model and its installation instructions. We review the load, connection method and existing electrical supply before planning the circuit. If you are changing from gas cooking, include that in the request rather than assuming an electric supply is already available.

Electric ranges, induction cooktops and separate ovens

An electric range combines cooking functions in one appliance, while a separate cooktop and wall oven can have individual supply and connection requirements. Induction describes how the cooktop heats compatible cookware; it does not identify a single circuit size. A 120V countertop induction appliance and a built-in induction cooktop should not be treated as the same electrical project.

When changing from gas to electric cooking, the existing convenience receptacle may only supply ignition or controls and may not support the new cooking appliance. We review the chosen equipment’s voltage and demand, the existing service and the route for any new circuit. Additional ovens, warming drawers and other kitchen changes should be considered together.

Receptacle and hardwired arrangements

Some cooking appliances use a cord and receptacle; others connect at a junction box. Existing three-prong or four-prong connections need assessment against the actual wiring and equipment requirements. The accessible location must work with the appliance and cabinets. Send the appliance’s installation drawing so we can coordinate the connection area with the cabinet and appliance installers.

Replacement, relocation and troubleshooting

Guardian can discuss replacing a damaged range receptacle, moving an oven connection or diagnosing a circuit that trips when cooking equipment is used. Tell us whether the problem affects the whole appliance, a particular function or other circuits as well. We test the building supply and explain when a fault appears to require appliance service.

Common questions before booking

Does a double oven automatically need two circuits?

Not necessarily. Some appliances have one supply, while separate appliances may need separate connections. The model instructions govern the circuit arrangement.

Why do the display and light work if the oven does not heat?

Some appliances use different portions of the supply for controls and heating. An incomplete supply is one possibility, but a heating-element or control fault can also be responsible. We assess the building electrical connection before assigning the repair.

Can you wire an induction cooktop?

Yes. Send the exact model and proposed location so we can assess its electrical requirements and the existing system.

Can the existing stove outlet be reused for a new range?

Possibly, after the circuit and exact appliance requirements are checked. The connection arrangement, grounding, conductor condition and protection matter; a matching plug is not enough. Share the replacement model before delivery so any needed electrical changes can be defined before the appliance is connected.

Can you coordinate with my kitchen contractor?

Yes. We can use the cabinet layout, equipment schedule and construction timing to define the electrical work and handoffs.

How are the quote and diagnostic charges handled?

Guardian offers free quotes for planned projects. A fault-finding visit or service call can involve a diagnostic charge, explained before booking. Access, equipment requirements and the work identified determine the proposed repair or installation scope.
