Guardian installs and repairs dock and boat-lift electrical equipment. We plan the supply, controls and protective equipment around the waterfront conditions, equipment specifications and access at the property.
On this page: Project details · Common questions
Review the equipment and exposure
Identify the outdoor loads, distance from the supply and exposure to water or weather. Pool, spa and waterfront work require a location-specific review.
Plan wiring and protective measures
Confirm suitable wiring routes, disconnects, grounding and bonding, and required shock protection for the actual equipment and site.
Confirm scope, permits and scheduling
We identify permit and inspection requirements for the property jurisdiction. Utility coordination is included when the work affects its equipment or supply. You receive the proposed scope before approving the work.
Complete the work and check operation
We complete the agreed electrical work, test the relevant installation and explain operation, findings and any follow-up. Required official inspections are a separate part of completion.
Send the lift model, motor information and control details, along with the dock location. A new lift, a replacement motor and a control fault are different scopes. Existing wiring should be reviewed against the equipment requirements instead of assuming a replacement is electrically identical.
Describe whether the lift will not move, operates intermittently or trips protection. Guardian can review the electrical supply and control work. Mechanical lifting components and structural repairs need their own agreed responsibilities; the electrical request should identify who services the lift itself.
Receptacles, lighting, shore-power equipment and lift connections each have a defined purpose. Products and enclosures must suit the actual exposure and installation. Household extension cords are not a substitute for a properly planned dock supply.
The route, dock construction, movement, water exposure and access affect the installation. Include planned dock repairs or replacement so wiring and equipment locations can be coordinated before surfaces become difficult to reach. For a marina or shared dock, identify the owner and approval contact.
Faulty dock or boat equipment can energize water without an obvious visible warning. Keep people out of the water near an electrical concern and do not enter the water to investigate. Stop using damaged equipment and seek emergency help for an immediate hazard.
A professional review considers the supply, equipment, grounding and bonding, and required protective arrangements together. Bypassing a tripping protective device can hide a dangerous condition; diagnosis must come before choosing a repair.
Share equipment models, the observed problem or planned additions, accessible photographs and any existing report. Cost and scheduling depend on routing, exposure, access, equipment condition and coordination with dock or lift contractors. Leave covers closed and do not approach damaged equipment to collect information.
The electrical cause could be a supply, cable, control or motor fault; a mechanical problem can also load the motor. We review the equipment and when the trip occurs with the lift service provider as needed. Do not bypass ground-fault or motor protection to keep the lift moving.
The dock’s water exposure, structure and electrical system need specific review. A fixture suitable for a covered porch may not suit the conditions at a dock. Receptacles, shore power and lift wiring must also be considered as parts of the waterfront installation.
Keep people out of the water and call 911 for a suspected shock emergency. Do not enter the water to investigate or attempt a rescue. Electrical hazards can be present without visible damage.
We provide dock-side and boat-lift electrical work. Vessel systems, mechanical lifting components and structural repairs need their own confirmed scope. Identifying those responsibilities early keeps the diagnosis and repair coordinated.
Guardian offers free quotes for planned projects. A fault-finding visit or service call can involve a diagnostic charge, explained before booking. Access, equipment requirements and the work identified determine the proposed repair or installation scope.
Share the property address, the problem or project you have in mind, and equipment details when available. Photos of accessible equipment and the work area can help us plan the next step. Do not remove electrical covers or expose wiring to take photographs.
