What the Work Involves

Match the circuit to the equipment

Review the model number, electrical rating and existing supply before choosing wiring or protection.

Plan the connection and cable route

Confirm the mounting or outlet location, access, disconnects and any work through finished areas.

Confirm scope, permits and scheduling

We identify permit and inspection requirements for the property jurisdiction. Utility coordination is included when the work affects its equipment or supply. You receive the proposed scope before approving the work.

Complete the work and check operation

We complete the agreed electrical work, test the relevant installation and explain operation, findings and any follow-up. Required official inspections are a separate part of completion.

Match the circuit to the dryer

Full-size electric dryers, gas dryers, compact units and heat-pump models can have different electrical requirements. Send the model rather than assuming the new appliance matches the old one. We review the specified voltage, connection and circuit protection before confirming the installation. Washing-machine power and stacked or combination appliances should be included in the same discussion.

Why three-prong and four-prong dryer connections differ

A modern four-wire dryer connection provides two supply conductors, a neutral and a separate equipment ground. Some older three-wire dryer installations use a different arrangement. Whether an existing installation can remain depends on its wiring, the appliance instructions and applicable requirements; the number of holes visible in the receptacle is not enough to decide.

Guardian checks the branch circuit, receptacle, cord arrangement and accessible electrical connection within the agreed scope. A worn or heat-damaged receptacle may also have damaged wiring or terminals. An adapter or cord change does not correct an unsuitable circuit, so we explain whether the remedy is a connection repair or new wiring.

A new laundry room or a moved connection

Tell us whether the dryer is staying in the same position, moving across the room or relocating to another floor. New cabinetry, stacking arrangements and access behind equipment affect the connection location. We coordinate electrical work with the room layout. Venting, plumbing, gas connections and appliance delivery should have clear responsibilities in the project plan.

Dryer running without heat or losing power

A dryer that turns but does not heat can have an electrical supply problem, although appliance and airflow faults can also cause drying problems. GE’s electric dryer guidance describes how incomplete supply can affect heating. Guardian can assess the building circuit and connection; internal appliance repairs or vent work may need the appropriate service provider.

Common questions before booking

Is every electric dryer a 30-amp, 240V appliance?

Many conventional full-size electric dryers use that arrangement, but compact, heat-pump and combination models can differ. The selected model’s instructions determine the circuit; we do not size it from the word “dryer” alone.

Can a loose dryer outlet be repaired without replacing the whole circuit?

Sometimes the correction is limited to the connection. We first check for heat damage and verify the existing wiring and protection are suitable. If damage extends farther, we explain the additional repair needed.

Can you install a new electric dryer circuit?

Yes. We assess the appliance requirements, panel capacity and wiring route, then quote the appropriate circuit and connection.

Can you help with washing-machine outlets too?

Yes. Include the washer or combined laundry unit in the request so the whole laundry area can be planned together.

Does a dryer outlet repair include appliance repair?

Our quoted work defines the electrical circuit and connection scope. Internal appliance, gas, plumbing and vent repairs should be confirmed separately.

How are the quote and diagnostic charges handled?

Guardian offers free quotes for planned projects. A fault-finding visit or service call can involve a diagnostic charge, explained before booking. Access, equipment requirements and the work identified determine the proposed repair or installation scope.
