What the Work Involves

Match the circuit to the equipment

Review the model number, electrical rating and existing supply before choosing wiring or protection.

Plan the connection and cable route

Confirm the mounting or outlet location, access, disconnects and any work through finished areas.

Confirm scope, permits and scheduling

We identify permit and inspection requirements for the property jurisdiction. Utility coordination is included when the work affects its equipment or supply. You receive the proposed scope before approving the work.

Complete the work and check operation

We complete the agreed electrical work, test the relevant installation and explain operation, findings and any follow-up. Required official inspections are a separate part of completion.

What a 120-volt circuit does

A 120-volt circuit supplies many of the everyday receptacles, lights and smaller appliances in a home. The voltage describes the electrical supply; the circuit’s amp rating describes its current limit. Those are separate specifications. A 20-amp circuit is still 120 volts, and adding more receptacles does not raise the circuit’s available capacity.

A home office with computers, a garage freezer or a laundry area may need a different arrangement from an occasional-use bedroom outlet. Guardian checks what the existing circuit already serves, what the new equipment requires and how long it will operate. That review helps distinguish a simple receptacle addition from a new dedicated circuit that keeps a particular load separate.

15-amp and 20-amp circuit planning

Many everyday household circuits are rated 15 or 20 amps, but a customer should not choose the breaker from the appliance plug alone. Wiring, device ratings, intended use and required protection all matter. Adding a higher-rated breaker to stop tripping is not a capacity upgrade. We assess the whole circuit and specify compatible components for the job.

Lighting, laundry and appliance uses

Common requests include new bedroom or office receptacles, lighting circuits, washing-machine power, a refrigerator or freezer connection, and a microwave location. Some equipment needs its own circuit or a particular connection arrangement. We use the actual model requirements rather than assuming every appliance can share the nearest outlet. For larger equipment, see our 240-volt circuit page.

New installation or a circuit that stopped working

Describe whether every outlet in the room is affected or just one device, and whether the issue began after equipment was added. That distinction helps plan diagnosis. A failed device, protection device, connection or appliance can produce similar symptoms. Guardian can trace the building electrical problem and discuss the repair before proceeding.

Common questions before booking

Can a 120V circuit run a 240V appliance?

Only if the appliance is specifically designed for the available supply. An ordinary plug adapter does not convert voltage or increase circuit capacity. Larger equipment should be reviewed on our 240V circuit page.

Will separating my office equipment stop every breaker trip?

A separate circuit can address excessive shared demand, but a defective appliance, wiring fault or protective-device issue needs its own diagnosis. We identify the cause before recommending the work.

Do 110V and 120V searches refer to the same kind of work?

People often use 110V to describe ordinary household power. Share the actual equipment label and connection so we can confirm its requirements.

Can you add just one outlet?

Yes. A small addition is a valid service request. We check whether the existing circuit is suitable and discuss a new circuit if needed.

Will a new outlet give me more circuit capacity?

An additional outlet on the same circuit does not increase that circuit’s capacity. We review what will be used before selecting the approach.

How are the quote and diagnostic charges handled?

Guardian offers free quotes for planned projects. A fault-finding visit or service call can involve a diagnostic charge, explained before booking. Access, equipment requirements and the work identified determine the proposed repair or installation scope.
